A new chapter: From Timbersmiths to Fox & Folly

A new chapter: From Timbersmiths to Fox & Folly

Fox & Folly is formerly Timbersmiths

If you’re one of our loyal customers and have recently visited our shop, you may have noticed a few changes.

Timbersmiths has become Fox & Folly.

We’re still the same husband and wife team - Kris & Rich - working from the same workshop, using the same materials, and producing the same high-quality engraved oak products you’ve come to know. The change is in name and look, not in values or standards.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be introducing some new product lines, as well as reintroducing a few old favourites - back by popular demand.

Why the change?

For over a decade, the name Timbersmiths served us well. It was functional, literal, and clearly described what we did.

As the business evolved, however, we felt it was time for a brand that better reflected the character, charm and craftsmanship of the products we make - now and into the future. Fox & Folly gives us that freedom: a name rooted in British character, natural materials, and a quiet sense of personality.

What hasn’t changed

We’ve carved out a niche producing small, beautifully made engraved oak signage for businesses and the home.

From discreet “no smoking” signs that sit quietly on a table or cottage mantlepiece, to QR code cubes, polite notices for the loo, period-style house signs, Airbnb signage, and our signature oak keyrings - welcoming guests to country houses, hotels and venues across the UK, as well as many homes - the products themselves remain unchanged.

Same materials

Our commitment to premium materials is unwavering. We continue to use the same sustainable, traceable and substantial solid European oak that has become our signature and is perfectly suited to engraving.

Same standard of engraving

From the outset, we chose to laser engrave all our products. This allows us to achieve detailed, precise designs - even on the smallest of keyrings.

Unlike many, we take extra care at every stage: masking, hand-sanding, and finishing each piece to ensure the final result is as refined as we can possibly make it.

What this means for our customers

Over time, you can expect a clearer, easier-to-navigate shop, with more distinctive products aligned to our core customers - the hospitality sector, country homes, farms and independent businesses where sustainable materials and strong brand identity matter.

A work in progress

Fox & Folly is very much a work in progress. We’ll continue to refine and expand our ranges, and we’ll always aim to let you know when we introduce something we think you might genuinely be interested in.

To our valued customers - past, present and future - thank you. Your support means the world to us, and we’re grateful for every order placed with our small, independent, family-run business.
