"Again?!" — The Perfect Gift for the Person Who's Always Losing Their Keys
There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who always know where their keys are. And those who, at some point today, will be standing at the front door with their hands full, saying a word they'd rather their children didn't hear.
If you know someone in the second category — and let's be honest, we all do — we have the gift for them.
Why a personalised wooden keyring is the perfect gift for a serial key-loser
It's the one gift that's inescapably useful. They can't put it on a shelf and forget about it. They can't regift it. They have to use it every day, which means every day they'll see whatever message you've chosen to have engraved on it — and depending on what you've written, they'll either smile, sigh, or reluctantly admit you made a fair point.
Our solid oak keyrings are handmade from 12mm European Oak in our Devon workshop, hand-finished with natural oil for a smooth, tactile feel — a considerably more distinguished final resting place for a set of keys than the bottom of a bag, the gap behind the radiator, or the lock itself (you know who you are).
They can be engraved with anything. Which brings us to the good bit.
What our customers actually asked us to engrave
Over the years we've engraved a lot of keyrings for people who lose their keys. These are real requests from real customers — we couldn't make this up if we tried.
Some are gentle reminders:
- All those who wander aren't lost... apart from John's keys
- Hopefully, I won't lose these!
- Looking for me…
- Don't put me in your bag
Some are more direct:
- Barbara, where did you put the keys?
- Bloody keys… that Emily hasn't lost yet!
- DON'T LOOSE THIS KEY :) PUT ME BACK WHERE YOU FOUND ME PLEASE
- Put me back before they notice!
- Some use both sides of the keyring to devastating effect:
- Front: I lost my keys, again! / Reverse: Return to Mr. Jose Fernandez
- Front: HELLO / Reverse: Is it keys you're looking for?
- Front: Ducati keys / Reverse: That I'm trying not to lose
- Front: KEYS I HAVE NOT YET LOST / Reverse: OR LEFT ON THE DIESEL TANK
And then there's our personal favourite — a masterpiece of passive-aggressive affection:
- Jane's lost her keys again! Please call her on [number]. She probably won't answer, but keep trying! Put me in your bag, Jane!
We love Jane's family. And we suspect Jane does too, really.
How to personalise yours
The text is entirely up to you — anything you'd write in a birthday card, you can have engraved on solid oak. A few things worth knowing:
- Double-sided engraving is available on all sizes. If your message needs a second line of attack — a set-up on one side and a punchline on the other — that's exactly what it's there for.
- Capitalisation and punctuation are engraved exactly as you enter them. So if you want LEAVE ME HERE! in capitals with an exclamation mark, type it precisely that way. It matters.
- Choose from five sizes — from a compact everyday fob up to our Extra Large "Too Big to Lose" version, which, frankly, sells itself as a gift in this context.
- Select a font - Choose a font that works for your text. Scripted and handwriting fonts work well for a quote, a Serif font for a ‘DON’T LOSE THIS KEY’statement will send it home!
Occasions this works for
Birthday — particularly for a milestone where something personal and funny lands better than something grand. Christmas — it's the stocking gift that's actually used rather than lost at the bottom of the stocking. Father's Day and Mother's Day both work well, as does a leaving gift for a colleague whose relationship with their desk keys was famously complicated.
And if the key-loser in question is, in fact, you — there's absolutely no shame in ordering one for yourself. Several of our customers have. The diesel tank one, for instance, we're fairly confident was self-directed.

Our Personalised Signature Oak Keyring uses an elegant flowing handwriting font — perfect for names, messages and anything where the feel of handwriting adds warmth. Our Personalised Wooden Keyring offers a selection of fonts suited to emphatic statements and all-caps instructions to one's past self.
Both are handmade in Devon, finished by hand in our workshop, and will last considerably longer than the average set of keys remains unattended on a hook by the front door.
If you'd like help choosing or have a message you're not sure will fit, get in touch. We'll make it work.
